Skyfonts continually drops fonts since upgrading to BigSur

I have a Monotype subscription which I sync to iMac (2015 21.5 4k) through their Skyfonts app. Was working fine before I upgraded to Big Sur OS - colleague having same problem on a slightly older iMac. Wondered if anyone else is having the same issue or if there's a workaround or fix please!!

I was having the same issue with missing fonts. After multiple instances of the fonts dropping and SkyFonts crashing when attempting to update, I opted to uninstall and install as 'new'. However, it won't complete the new install... and I got the same "we're aware but can't help" response from Monotype support. So, no SkyFonts for me until further notice!

Same problem, and there doesn't seem to be a solution besides quitting and relaunching the app. Also, nobody seems to be talking about it anywhere on the internet, which is surprising.

It looks like Monotype has quietly been ditching the Monotype subscription in favour of astronomically expensive enterprise solutions - not a great development for freelance designers - and these new enterprise solutions run on a different software platform.

So I suspect development of Skyfonts is not on high on the priority list, sadly.

Monotype support had this to say when I reported the issue:

"Our development team is aware of a compatibility issue between our SkyFonts software and MacOS Big Sur, which causes synced font data to be de-synced frequently. This issue is currently being investigated so that the issue can be resolved across the platform, as it has affected multiple users."

Then they wanted me to do this, which I thought was risky:

Apologies for the continued difficulty. Can you please share feedback based on below steps:

-Quit SkyFonts.

- Go to User Directory (Home Directory)

- press (SHIFT+COMMAND+ . ) to show hidden directories.

- Go to Library -> Application Support

- There will be one hidden directory (also locked). The folder name format will be ( “.{Machine Serial Number}-8cbef5ba”)

- Right Click on the directory and choose “Get Info”. Make sure SkyFonts is not running before doing next step.

- In Info panel uncheck Locked option and then set Privilege as ‘Read & Write’ for the user.

- Then delete the directory. If any folder inside this directory, then delete them as well, removing Lock and allowing ‘Read & Write’ Permission.

- Once all complete now run the SkyFonts client again and do login in with credential. Check if issue still occurs.

Note: I did not try this and if you do, do so at your risk!

Thanks for your input on this folks, much appreciated as I've just been getting the same responses from Monotype. The directory deletion seemed to work for a day on my end but the following day the same old issue came up again so it doesn't seem to be a long term solution. I agree with Nicola S that it seems to be a ploy to get us all to upgrade to the Enterprise solution!
