4K Apple TV audio sync issues?

My 4K Apple TV seems to be having audio sync issues when it comes to me playing any of my movies through home sharing. I have three other Apple TV set a third generations and neither one of them seem to be having this issue. After a couple of minutes into movie the audio and video get out of sync. I tried factory reset, I changed hdmi cable, even tried audio calibration, rebooted my iMac running home sharing. It’s only affecting my 4K Apple TV. Any suggestions to fix?

There are a number of people who are experiencing audio sync issues after upgrading to 14.5. I had it on my AppleTV 4K. Apple support had me take it in for repair and since it was still under warranty they just replaced it with a new one. My new one has 14.4 installed and I no longer see sync issues with the audio.

I was also experiencing audio popping and crackling on the videos that showed sync issues. I hope that Apple can get these issues fixed soon. While I'm ok with keeping 14.4 on my AppleTV, I had upgraded my iPad and iPhone devices and now can no longer downgrade them back to 14.4.

I think that’s a very interesting and valid point. To be honest, I’m pretty fed up with my Apple TV. The old touch-pad style remote is rubbish and I can’t count the number of times I’ve nearly thrown it out the window in anger of not being able to get a show to fast forward 10 seconds. So freaking infuriating!!  The new remote with the latest Apple TV looks much better, but I have to shell out £60 for it!  REALLY!!  £60 for a remote to replace a bad design!!!

“I’m sorry, we F**KED up, here’s one that actually works. That’ll be £60 in addition to what you’ve already paid for your 4K Apple TV and remote. thank you.”

And now this issue. I’m very seriously looking at other streaming boxes. I hardly ever watch the Apple TV streaming service anyway.

It’s a shame, because I love everything else Apple. Watch, iPad, iPhone, Mac Mini, AirPods .... All works virtually flawlessly.
Even when I play my own content on them.

Bad Apple. BAD BAD APPLE!

Yeah the touch pad remote really sucks balls when it comes to fast forward or scanning songs and movies. The last big issue on Apple TV "computers" icon was the album artwork disappearing as you scrolled down the page. That was never solved by apple, The issue went away when they released TVOS but that took close to a year and there were loads of people on these forums complaining about it and many many submissions to the offical apple report faults channel.

Update...

I had switched to my old Apple TV HD and it was working fine. I had turned off automatically updates. Then, the other day I turned it on and it was trying to do an update. So I pulled the plug and avoided the update. But, I didn’t realise it had changed the setting back to auto-update.

Turned it on last night and got a message about all the new features in the update it just installed. *Noooooooo!!!!*

So now I’m getting out of sync issues on my personal library of shows, but the popping sound has seemed to go away. So that’s something.

side note regarding previous comments about us going off topic.

Sorry about that. But when one is so very impressed with everything Apple, to have one horrifically bad product like this, with updates that screw with my personal library of films, it’s rather upsetting. Apple generally gets things right and most of their products are super user friendly and JUST WORK. But the Apple TV is turning into a failure in my mind with the software update and poorly designed remotes. But you’re right, should start an ‘Apple TV Remote is Rubbish’ thread.

Come on Apple! Don’t make me buy from someone else. Fix this issue.

I can confirm that I am having the same issue. I have 1600 movies that I have ripped from my own DVD's over the years.

Since buying the new 2021 Apple TV 4K with the new / better Siri remote, it starts clicking, loses synch then eventually drops all audio altogether.

I have all new gear. Newest Samsung TV, brand new Sonos soundbar.

Considering plugging in my old apple TV HD and just keeping the new remote. This is total BS.

Without ‘home sharing’ audio working properly, what’s the point of difference of having AppleTV.

Most Smart TVs have the same apps in-built either pre-loaded or downloadable.

Fancy new Siri remote often doesn’t translate voice to txt to search properly.

I’ll be patient for next update.

If TVOS 14.7 update or whatever the next update is called doesn’t fix the audio sync issue, I have the right to bring it back for full refund under Australian Consumer Law rights because out of the box, TVOS 14.4 worked perfect. Apple created the fault with their 14.5 upgrade.

If you have have Apple TV 3rd gen, don’t get rid of it…..works perfect for Home Sharing!

I don't think Apple want to stop people from 'Home Sharing' to force people to only watch paid/rented content through the AppleTV, otherwise there wouldn't be a big orange icon/app called 'Computers' which can be even be moved to the top row of your most used apps on the home page to stream content from an iMac.

From a marketing point of view, it wouldn't make sense to remove 'Computers' (Home Sharing) app as Apple designs many of it's products to be intergrated and work/sync together.

Everyone has there own personal libraries of songs, ripped from their own record collections, cds, any source. Same with movies, ripped from personal DVD/Blu-Ray libraries or Home made movies. So 'Home Sharing' is important to a lot of people around the world. Apple would know that. 'Home Sharing' streaming my own content from my iMacs is the main reason I've bought several AppleTVs over the years.

Let's be patient and wait for the update. Apple never make public statements of bugs (audio/sync issues) they plan to fix, only on the day they release a new software update.

I’ve had similar problems with this however for some reason my normal 2d films old and new ones I haven’t tested all of them as I have hundreds seem to work fine it’s only affecting my 3D movies and I’ve only noticed the problem since my new M1 iMac but I haven’t watched one for a while on my old computer I wonder why it would only give me a problem with those and not the others like you I did try a few different things but I also haven’t had too much luck.

Even stranger buddy, I didn't use any profanity but yet I see my last post has been automatically marked to look like it's covering up profanity. Go figure! 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Anyway, once again, let us all keep our fingers crossed Apple get their shizzle (let's see if that gets tagged as anything it's not) together and fix things very soon and maybe, begin clawing back the greatness it once was.
