IOS 11.3 Photos showing rotated

I have always had my photos set for a slide show when the computer is going to sleep. I have it set for approximately 60 minutes to offer me entertainment and an opportunity to view the images. After updating to 11.3 I am noticing a number of the images are showing rotated 90 degrees. However searching through the Photo Library all the images are in the correct orientation.

The computer is a brand new (January 2021) 27" iMac.

I was finally able to spend the needed time on this. My screen saver wouldn't even start up on Safemode. It went black as if it were going to start but even after 10minutes of black I had nothing but black.

In the interim I occasionally notice specific images being turned 90 degrees, but when I check on the in the library they are properly oriented. While this is not a Federal case, it is a minor annoyance.. 99% of the images are properly arranged. I haven't managed to determine if the problem is consistent with a given image or if it too is random.

It does appear that the images that are showing on their sides are the very same images that were taken in the vertical position and then rotated once in the library to orient the tops. Since I have over 10,000 images in my library I cannot easily confirm that they all are this type, nor can I easily confirm that all of them show turned. I have been checking the ones I see and when I can find them in the library they in fact are the previously rotated images.
