Can't sign into iPad

My iPad doesn't recognize my fingerprint nor sense my touch when I try to key in my passcode. All I can do is press the power button on and off. I tried taking it out of the case. Washed my hands, dried my hands...

Solved! on another thread I read: press top button and home button at same time, hold until the Apple logo appears, then release. Worked!
