Audio Video sync issues after update to 14.5 of appleTV

I have this new and strange issue with ’two’ 4K appleTVs each connected to a separate TV since newest update. Never ever had this before using it for years. One appleTV is connected by WiFi the other by Ethernet. No other changes were done except updating to 14.5. The audio goes ahead of the video after a few minutes into the movie. I stop the movie and exit the player, then resume playing the video and soon after the situation is the same. Unwatchable.

It goes with that on each and every video I play from my computer by home sharing of my library.

I tried reseting the video setting in appleTv settings, changed audio mode from auto to 16bit, match content on and off. Nothing helped.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Exact same issue on my end. If I stream any video through my shared library on the Apple TV 4K, the audio gets out of sync after a few minutes. Other streaming apps (Netflix, Disney +, etc.) do not have any audio sync issues.

I moved my entire content library over to Plex and there are no audio issues to speak of. I think that identifies the Apple TV app on the Mac as the main culprit since the issue only pops up when streaming from my shared library. Not sure there are any settings to adjust to fix this issue and I suppose we have to hope it's fixed with the next update.

This problem is really driving me nuts.

Can anybody testing betas confirm that the next update of tvOS 14.7 will fix this wrongful behaviour finally? Or is it even related to macOS and we have to wait for macOS 11.5?

14.7 seems to have reduced the number of audio crackles for me but there are still video hickups and short “blackouts” in the video. Both iTunes and other media services I tried.

Really depressing that this comes out for so long without a proper fix I must say, or it’s my unit that is faulty.

Same issue here, audio sync on what seems like any content played over iTunes home sharing.

Issue still persists in iOS 14.6.

Same issues here. After I updated apple tv to 14.5 then 14.6, when play videos through home sharing they slowly go out of sync and continue to get worse. Is this an update issue, will apple fix it?

Same here after update to 14.6 (skipped 14.5).

Audio going out of sync - stopping or skipping back/forward helps for a short while.
Sometimes there’s crackles.
Sometimes audio disappears completely.

Seems to be resolved on my end as well. I watched a 60min show through the 'Computers' app streaming from my iMac and no audio sync issues throughout.
