Imovie transitions missing on 10.14.6

I have recently had to copy a version of Imovie off another Mac due to a disc crash. It's Imovie 10.1.14. The application is working fine except that I cannot get access to any of the standard transitions. Now I know this problem is not just affecting me, and I have read the solutions, none of which work.

So I would like to approach it differently. I have access to a fully working copy of Imovie on my wife's computer, the one I copied. She has her transitions working ok. So my question is:

Where does Imovie store the system transitions, so that I can copy them in manually please? we have searched for them without any success. I have asked Apple but they have refused to help me.

Thanks

I was not able to find a transitions folder in the iMovie app Show Package Contents resources.

I would try deleting preferences and see if that cures it. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

If still no luck, try redownloading iMovie from the app store. To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by

clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it

there) and return it to the Applications folder.

Dear Rich,

Thanks. I've tried all that with no result. Deleting preferences makes no difference. And the only version of iMovie on the application store does not work with 10.14.6, and Apple have flatly refused to help as I won't/can't upgrade the OS.

As you say, there ought to be transitions in the package but I couldn't find them either. Choosing a different theme can bring in one or two of them, but not the whole lot. It's very frustrating.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction please.

Many thanks, Nigel
