Storage Locations Unavailable & Permission Denied

I've been editing all day quite happily on my M1 MacBook Air. My FCP library is on an external Sabrent SSD.

When I came back from a break, I kept getting the error message 'FCP cannot save changes to [my project]. The storage location for one or more libraries is no longer available. The libraries will be closed so that no work is lost.'

The library had originally been on a different drive, but I made sure I had opened it from the Sabrent, and disconnected the other drive.

I restarted the MBA, but got the same error message. I then was not able to open the project at all, getting a second error message that said 'The operation couldn't be completed. Permission denied. [Project title] is already in use by [my user name] on '[my MacBook Air].local.'

I don't know what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the drive is full due to FCP, you can reclaim space (sometimes A LOT) by selecting the library in the browser then choosing File->Delete Generated Library Files... If you don't need Proxy or Optimized media, check them along with All Render Files. Then in FCP Preferences make sure Background Rendering is not checked--that will create lots of big files behind the scenes. If you need proxies or optimized file you can always create those manually for specific clips that might need it.
