Can you play music on AirPods Max when they are worn around your neck?

Is it possible to get your Airpods Max to still play sound when worn around your neck and not just on your head? It's frustrating to me that I can't play music if they're around my neck. They're so heavy sometimes I want a break from them being on top of my head, but want to keep playing music. Wondering if there's a way to turn off that sensor that automatically shuts them off?

airpods pro case showing 0% when I updated my AirPods to 5B58 and everything I use it it shows 0% for the case when I put it back in it shows it’s real charged percentage.
