Strange symbol on the menu bar

Hi All,

Can someone help me with a strange symbol appeared on my menu bar?

I posted a screenshot: it's the one on the left on the wireless symbol.

If I click on it two options appear: "VPN is not configured" and "Open network preferences"

Many thanks for your time.

This bugged me, so went to look around. And I found this:

https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/346019/how-to-remove-the-vpn-is-not-configured-icon-from-the-menu-bar-on-macos where it seems to be explained as dead-simple "non-problem" :D ...

At first, there was no sign of VPN in the network-control-panel.

If you have a VPN-something in your connections-list on the left, you should see the tick box "VPN-Status …" where you would just untick it.

Or, create a new VPN by clicking the + above the lock...

But, first, you could try to plainly cmd-drag it out of the menu?

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

The important part of the above is...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...
