Bluetooth Problem - iMac Music Interrupts When Playing on Stereo Receiver

I play music from my iMac, iPhone and iPad on a Denon stereo receiver using Bluetooth.

The phone and pad have no problems but when I play from the Mac, every minute or two I get a brief blip/interrupt/stutter to the sound. Lasts half a second but just enough to throw the music off-beat.

I play guitar along to songs, so it's a nuisance.

I've tried with both phone and tablet turned off or with mail and everything else closed on the Mac but have run out of ideas.

Everything's been rebooted dozens of times, latest software on all devices etc.

Apartment block so perhaps something there.

Thing is, why do the phone and tablet play fine but not the Mac?

Any help gratefully received!

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with the Bluetooth connection with your stereo receiver. You've provided some good information, and completed great steps to resolve help resolve this. Complete the following steps, testing after each one to see if that helps:

Ensure your macOS is fully updated within the version you currently have installed: How to update the software on your Mac
Turn Bluetooth off and back on to reset it
Disconnect all external devices (displays, hard drives, etc.) and reset the SMC and NVRAM
- How to reset the SMC of your Mac
- Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac
Factory reset the stereo receiver using the directions provided by the manufacturer, then reconnect it to your Mac
Check for interference using these steps: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

Keep us posted on the results.

Did all that religiously.

Started up the Mac music player and within 60 seconds there was an interrupt.

Again a minute or so later.

3 in 4 minutes so as bad as it's ever been now.

So thanks but it didn't work.

Drawing board. Any ideas please?

I'm in an apartment, receiver 12 feet from router and Mac. Can't change distance.

Nothing else electrical within 30 feet.

Why do the iPhone and iPad work fine but not the iMac?

Well, that's that then.

I'll look for help somewhere that doesn't include 'Apple' in it's name.
