Siri stops talking in the middle of a sentence

Ever since I updated to iOS 14.5.1 Siri stops talking in the middle of a sentence or just doesn’t say anything at all. This makes things difficult when using maps while driving. I have reset Siri and it is still happening.

Hi all, I am using iPhone 11 Pro and I noticed the intermittent Siri voice cutting out after 14.5.1 update, I tried everything mentioned by other users but that didn’t work out. The only way I was able to make Siri work as before was to switch language from US to UK tried it for a couple of hours and no problems Siri was working as it should so I decided to switch back to American English and again Siri started misbehaving! Hopefully this glitch can be resolved with next update.

Hi all,

I was having the exact same issue on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. After the latest update. I was able to get Siri working properly again by doing a hard restart. Here’s how:

1) quickly press and release the volume up button

2) quickly press and release the volume down button

3) press and hold down the power button until you see the Apple logo.

Your iPhone will then restart and Siri will start working again. Please note that this procedure is different from a normal turn of and turn back on for your phone. Just follow the simple steps above and it should work. Also this procedure will not change or reset any of your settings so you don’t have to worry about having to redo your settings. This just restarts the phone. I think there is a glitch in the latest iPhone update that messed with Siri but this a quick easy fix.

hope this helps,

Hi there, Luuminator! Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are running into some Siri issues. We definitely understand that having that feature not working as expected can be a concern and we'd love to help. Let’s start by making sure your iPhone is restarted, update all the apps on your iPhone and close/reopen any apps that you are experiencing this behavior with Siri:

  1. Restart your iPhone
  2. How to manually update apps on your Apple device
  3. Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch

Please let us know if you have follow-up questions about this issue, or if the issue remains unresolved. Have a great day!

Thanks for getting back with us, Luuminator. We rely on Siri for a great many tasks, so we absolutely know it's critical that she work right. Let's keep digging into this. Let us know if this issue occurs under these circumstances:

  1. When connected to Wi-Fi and cellular. Please test each independently.
  2. When indoors and outdoors, away from other electrical devices.
  3. If you use a secondary device (besides your iPhone), does that issue occur there too?
  4. Does this happen with other apps aside from Maps and Weather?
  5. If you use Hey Siri to ask a question, does it cut out there too?

Please get back with us with these answers so we can narrow this own a bit more. Thanks and take care.

Hi, I have the exact same problem (latest iOS 14.5.1, all apps are up-to-date, device has been restarted, tried it both on wi-fi and cellural etc.). Although Siri still executes the task prompted, (s)he stops in the middle of the sentence when giving a verbal response.

Extra info: it works fine on my Watch (Watch Series 6, latest watchOS version), the problem only occurs on my phone (iPhone 11). Interesting enough, Siri works totally fine on my work phone (also iOS 14.5.1, but an iPhone 8), so it may be model-related.

Can you please fix this? It is really annoying.
