Hi winterlightning28,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities.

We understand you are having trouble reconnecting your AirPods after forgetting them in Bluetooth settings. Here to help.

Which AirPods do you have, and which iPhone are they connected to? Make sure your iPhone is up to date prior to proceeding through next steps.

One step that would likely be of benefit here would be performing a reset on the AirPods. This will clear out previous pairing profiles and should allow you to pair to your device as normal again. Follow the steps in this article, disregarding the step of forgetting the AirPods as you have already done this.

Hi winterlightning28,

Thanks for following up.

Are you getting any response from the LED indicator on the AirPods? If so, what color is the light, and is it solid or flashing? If the reset is successful you should see a flashing amber light.

If you're not seeing any response from the LED, the case or AirPods may need to charge further. Leave the case with AirPods inside charging for at least five minutes before trying to perform the reset again.

If you don't seem to be able to perform the reset, or the AirPods are still not being picked up by your iPhone, it would be best to Contact Apple Support for next steps.

Best wishes.

Hi winterlightning28,

If you haven't already, be sure to restart your iPhone. For the iPhone XR this would be done by holding either volume button and the side button, then 'slide to power off'.

You mentioned you'd recieved a message stating 'Not your AirPods?' Was this before or after 'forgetting' them in Settings > Bluetooth? Are there any other AirPods in the environment that your phone could be detecting as well

We would also suggest looking at potential sources of wireless interference which could be obstructing the Bluetooth connection. Try removing any cases from your devices and ensure you are not near any device that could be causing interference. This article will go over things to check for in your environment:

Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

Aside from taking these steps, we would suggest contacting Apple Support directly as they will have more specific steps to take and can also offer service options if needed.

Take care.

winterlightning28,

Is there any chance individual AirPods could have been mixed up between this pair and another pair? This can be what prompts 'Not your AirPods?' message.

Restarting your iPhone and trying to perform the reset again sounds like a good plan. Apple Support certainly will be able to help beyond this.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! Best wishes!
