Apple CarPlay and cellular data

I’ve yet to find a solution. I have a 2021.5 VW Atlas. I’ve been trying to use the wireless CarPlay option. When I pair with Vw wifi and Bluetooth - it will work with items stored on my phone - but I no longer have internet access. maps doesn’t work nor Apple Music. How do I ‘force’ the iPhone (11) to use cellular data while connected to the vw wifi? I already checked the app settings that give permission to use cellular data.

If you are connected to wi-fi in the vehicle, that will take precedence over cellular, just like if you were connecting to wi-fi at your home. My guess is that VW must have some type of data service they have that is part of their wi-fi? I would check with the VW dealer with that question. But the iPhone when connected to wi-fi will not use cellular data.
