It depends on the age of the laptop as well as the exact model. Most any laptop from 2012 or earlier is no longer supported by Apple with the exception of the MBPro 13" (mid-2012) non-Retina model. 2013-2014 models are now considered "Vintage" so repairs are only available at an Apple Authorized Service Provider as long as the necessary part is still available. You will have to have Apple or an AASP examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate. If you have an unsupported model, then you will either have to find a shop willing to perform the repair after locating the correct part or do the replacement yourself.
