Choppy / stuttering video playback on iPhone 12 Pro Max since iOS 14.5.1

I switched off the “True tone” feature (which appears to be what automatic brightness is called now) and this seems to have helped reduce stuttering video on my iPhone 12.

My iPhone 6 doesn’t have this problem (nor does it have the “True tone” setting).

IOS 14.7.1 fixes the stuttering issue on iPhone 12 series?

I have 15.0.1 and since the update with every video I record it’s choppy for me on play back. But for everyone else it’s fine. I do social media posts for clients from my phone and this is making my job impossible. I’ve tried all the suggestions including a factory reset. This didn’t start till the latest update.

I believe it’s a firmware issue since the update of IOS 14.5.1. Yet Apple hasn’t fixed this bug, we are on 14.6.

I switch on auto-brightness and Netflix app has a frame rate like it’s 1997. I switch it off and it works great, but then the battery life is terrible.

This is a lot of money for a piece of junk.

set the video playback setting to maximum data,

this seems to resolve the issue for me.

I have tried the auto brightness thing. Both ways. Didn’t work for me.

mom a separate discussion Apple told me I had to sort it out with the app developers for the apps it doesn’t work with.

I have this same issue I phone 12 pro 256gb . I went through all the trouble shooting and it not the apps it’s apple IOS. I constantly have to reboot the phone. I have very high speed internet so it should work well. Reset and restarted the phone updated the IOS and it’s the same problem so I recommend getting your engineering on the stick and fixing it

Run cpu throttle online in safari go for extreme test warm up your phone a little then video will run smooth

Because of this stuttering problem I am watching Netflix movies on my old Samsung phone. This problem has been here since I got my 12 mini. It has been months now. No solution yet. What a shame for Apple.

I am shocked to see that this issue still hasn't been resolved in iOS 15. The video playback is so choppy on my 12Promax. Infact why isn't anyone raising this issue except this forum. Apple needs to fix this or maybe they really do try to slow phones down. Even a 100$ phone can play smoother videos than my phone. A simple software fix will remove this issue.

This is ridiculous. iOS 15 and still can’t watch a simple video of my niece or anything without the video being choppy and jumpy and skipping. This has been going on according to the replies on here for months and Apple is doing nothing. I think I am ready to leave Apple all together. I have had an Apple phone for 20 years and I believe this will be my last. Too many issues. I just want to be able to watch the videos my sister sends me of my nieces and nephews.
