Since 14.5.1I'm noticing that previously silky smooth playback of iTunes streams, Netflix, BBC iPlayer etc are now 'stuttering' for a few seconds at a time. Very distracting. I'm sure it's not a content problem as the same films / shows play fine on my MacBook, Apple TV etc. and my broadband speed is excellent.
Anyone else noticing this?
iPhone 12 Pro Max
This has been happening on my brand new 12 mini - while streaming Netflix or anything else, quick transitions get choppy. Turning off “follow focus” seems to have eliminated the stutter on my mini. For this fix, go to Accessibility settings> zoom> turn off follow focus.
I have tried every suggestion listed here and anywhere else I’ve seen on the web and nothing has fixed this issue.
I fail to see how it can be a 3rd party app issue as my older XS Pro Max that isn’t IOS15 doesn’t do it.
My iPhone 12 pro also stutters when playing video, even my own recorded ones, but when I send it to others they don’t experience it, and they have older phones.
please fix Apple… too expensive for this ********
I am running 15.0.2 and still having the stuttering. I turned off auto brightness as some suggested and I had no change. I have the stuttering in facebook messenger, on youtube, and sometimes on tiktok. Very frustrating...
I have had same problem since last month. Nobody at Apple ready to admit there's a problem. I reset my phone and used back up to restore. They said that's wrong. Then i reset phone and used iCloud to restore. They said that is wrong as well. I mean Apple is a big company and if this is the level of customer service they are going to lose another customer as i have seen many in this blog. Utterly disgraceful
I am having this same glitchy video on playback— but specifically when I am recording video.
I have tried recording via different means and the playback is ALWAYS jumpy now.
As someone who could have seizures, is there a fix?
Hi @Erin_B11. Thanks. Should have said but I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps without success. Fingers crossed it’s a glitch.
I'm also having this problem, and have gone through all the basic steps. Inconceivable that a $1000+ can't do something a $200 phone can.

Hi I am having the same issue on a brand new iPhone 12. Went to the Apple store today and they did a factory reset but still have the choppiness on Netflix. Apple - any ideas?
Still a problem. Making music workshops impossible. Not much help from Apple. Wishing I had not come back to Apple but stick with Android.
Anyone still experiences the stuttering issue on IOS 14.7?

You are right, it doesn’t. It seemed to help but now it’s back to choppy streaming video. Bummer. I think I will return this 12 mini and get the 11. I’m within the two week return window.
Yes I just experienced the stutter on my iPhone 12 while watching YouTube at 1440p with iOS 14.7. Apple needs to fixed this cause it’s really distracting
i turned off the auto brightness but it still has choppiness/lagging in youtube playback video…. 14.7.1 here
