App worked okay until latest update 14.5.1

Now will not work at all. Says developer needs to update software for it to work.

Is there any way of retrieving what was in the vault ?

I have almost 15G of data stored in App Calc+, which is now inaccessible. I have cutes, videos and important documents. We purchased this App through the Apple Store platform, so Apple is responsible for that. It can't just throw all the responsibility to the developer. We need to put pressure on Apple they need to find an urgent solution!!! And respect your users.

After months of stressing out about my very important lost financial files trapped within this app, I finally got the app to work again tonight and recovered everything! It was quick, easy, and somewhat of an accidental miracle.  Here’s what I did:

  1. On my MacBook, I downloaded the free version of iExplorer for Mac https://macroplant.com/iexplorer (don’t press “buy”, just press the blue download button, you don’t need to give out any information)
  2. Opened iTunes on my MacBook
  3. Connected my iPhone to my MacBook with my USB-C cable
  4. Found the little picture of my iPhone on iTunes and pressed it
  5. I attempted to make a backup of my iPhone by checking “this computer” in the backup section, and “back up now” under “manually back up and restore”. (I did not check “Encrypt iPhone backup”)

This is the odd part, the backup didn’t work, it said I didn’t have enough space on my computer….but then I pressed the Calculator+ app on my phone and it came back to life.  I was able to retrieve all of my files and photos, and the app still works even after disconnecting the phone from my MacBook.

Hello Dmat57!

If the app is no longer available on the App Store, you might need to check your email for an invoice from Apple for the app purchase details. It should have the app name and developer listed which may help you get in contact with them.

You can also use the following to help find the app in your purchase history: See your purchase history for the App Store, iTunes Store, and more

Be well!

I have this same issue. It appears Apple discontinued this app but did not provide customers with a way to retrieve their documents/pics. I haven't been able to locate the app developer information in order to contact them directly. You can't access the app in the app store anymore. I've had this app for years, so I don't have an "email receipt" - as one person suggested looking for the developer info. I need to recover my information, how can Apple do this without giving us an opportunity to back up our documents?

Hello Dmat57! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that the Calculator + app isn't working for you, and you're seeing a message that the developer needs to update the app's software. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

Connecting with the App developer to see if they plan to update the software for the app, or if there's a way to retrieve information stored through the app is going to be your best option. The following resource can help with that: How to contact an app developer

Make it a great day!

My wife has been trying to convince me to switch to galaxy.

when things like this happen I’m starting to be more inclined to listen to her.

Q1. - why wasn’t there communication from Apple to give us a warning?

Q2. - does Apple think it’s ok to act this carelessly with customers private information?

Q3. - who’s is Apple going to make good on this to it’s loyal customers?

Apple please fix this fast!
