Calculator + app

App worked okay until latest update 14.5.1

Now will not work at all. Says developer needs to update software for it to work.

Is there any way of retrieving what was in the vault ?

same app does not now seem to be in App Store anymore either.

problem on both I phone and I pad.

After months of stressing out about my very important lost financial files trapped within this app, I finally got the app to work again tonight and recovered everything! It was quick, easy, and somewhat of an accidental miracle.  Here’s what I did:

  1. On my MacBook, I downloaded the free version of iExplorer for Mac https://macroplant.com/iexplorer (don’t press “buy”, just press the blue download button, you don’t need to give out any information)
  2. Opened iTunes on my MacBook
  3. Connected my iPhone to my MacBook with my USB-C cable
  4. Found the little picture of my iPhone on iTunes and pressed it
  5. I attempted to make a backup of my iPhone by checking “this computer” in the backup section, and “back up now” under “manually back up and restore”. (I did not check “Encrypt iPhone backup”)

This is the odd part, the backup didn’t work, it said I didn’t have enough space on my computer….but then I pressed the Calculator+ app on my phone and it came back to life.  I was able to retrieve all of my files and photos, and the app still works even after disconnecting the phone from my MacBook.

I’ve tried calling Apple . They said their not liable for other developers not updating their platform & I offered your suggestions with no outcome. They basically can not downgrade a version even for emergency. This is ********. They can’t even modify their own creation to help people in desperate need.

so basically I’ve no solution & lost about 386 photos videos and very sensitive documents.

I have almost 15G of data stored in App Calc+, which is now inaccessible. I have cutes, videos and important documents. We purchased this App through the Apple Store platform, so Apple is responsible for that. It can't just throw all the responsibility to the developer. We need to put pressure on Apple they need to find an urgent solution!!! And respect your users.

The instructions at the link I copied and pasted didn’t say to delete the app. What made you offload the app? It says to back up your iPhone with iTunes on your computer. Then you can find the Calc + app, click on it and export the files to your computer to a file or you can just view them from the back up location in iTunes. I had to download a Microsoft viewer for some of the video files for 99 cents but all the others were viewable. If you’ve deleted the app from your phone, you’re right it no longer exist. There’s another calculator + but it’s not the same app. Sorry you deleted the app, but I didn’t say to do that. I said follow the instructions. Not sure who you’re calling an idiot, but you may want to actually read the instructions completely next time.

too lost years of important docs, photos, and videos. This is not a developer problem, this is an Apple problem. Apple removed the Calc+ app from its store and did not notify or warn it’s customers, even though Apple readily accepted my payments for the app.

The app continued to work on my old phone. I bought a new 13 pro max last week and that’s when I first found out that Apple had removed the app without warning. They were more than happy to take my $1,000+ for the new phone bragging about its new features, but not a word about the app or that I would lose all data saved in it.

I spent several hours on the phone with Apple Customer Support, having to request higher and higher level personal. All said the same thing: sorry. Very frustrating!

I tracked down the website of the calc+ app developer and sent an email, but no response so far. The email address is info@onewave.se. Would love to know if anyone else has had success.

Apple, who is the real cause of the problem, does done NOTHING!. Really really disappointed. I spent several hours with Apple's customer service and all I got was canned responses as to why they are no help at all. I encourage all to file complaints with Apple. Maybe with enough complaints, they will do something.
