unable to set up apple watch on a different Apple Watch

My husband up graded ( I phone) so, I had a older one / he gave me his older one when he upgraded / I am unable to connect my Watch to it ..

An iphone 6 plus will only pair with a watch that has WatchOS5 or lower.
