Apple TV color calibration not working - could not improve picture quality

I’ve gone through the process of calibrating on my Apple TV HD and Samsung MU8000 4K TV (yeah I know - waiting for the new Apple TV 4K to be shipped) but once it’s read the colours, I get the notification saying “Unable to Adjust Color Balance. Apple TV could not improve your picture quality. You will get the best results if your television is in its standard, cinema or similar picture mode.”

Any ideas on why it’s not working? The TV is in standard mode.

Try again. Hold the iPhone close to the screen (a bit less than one inch) at the indicated position. Close to, but not against the screen. Vary the distance and position a bit until it starts the measuring procedure.
