macbook pro M1 mouse pointer is lagging, and trailing in spurts

periodically while using my computer for a few minutes my mouse pointer will trail behind almost as if the refresh rate was extremely low it lags and trails behind itself while moving around only to clear itself up after a minute. without mouse or with a mouse it does the same thing.


anyone have any idea why its doing this?
