viewing photos in a folder

In Windows I really like the following behaviour:

When you open a picture in a folder that contains other pictures, I can scroll through them efficiently using the readily displayed arrows.

Not so in Finder?

How unfortunate, sigh.

You have options:

  1. Open a Finder WIndow on your folder of pictures
    1. Press ⌘+4 to open Gallery view, and click on one image. Now you can use the right and left arrow keys to traverse the images.
    2. Press ⌘+1 to open Icon view mode, select an image, and press. the Spacebar to open Quick Look.
      1. Navigate the Quick Look images with the arrow keys
  2. Open Preview
    1. In Preview Preferences > Images > ⌾ Open all files in one window
    2. Open a folder containing your images (results a thumbnails)
    3. View menu > Contact Sheet
    4. When you are done, press the option key, and select File menu > Close All
    5. Looks like the following:
