How to only view the photos and videos I made myself with my iPhone camera?!?

It used to be possible to only view the photos and videos which are taken by the iphone camera (I think it was called the camera roll) but now I am not able to do this anymore.

I have just convinced my father in law to move from an Android to an Iphone and this was one of his first questions and to my surprise I am not able to provide an answer!?

It is such a simple yet crucial function (which is available on Android by the way) so I am completely flabbergasted that this is not possible on iOS!

Hope someone has a solution and/or that this is going to be fixed in a next release!

You need to disable iCloud Photos to get back Camera Roll under Photos App.

Settings > [Tap your name] > iCloud > Photos > iCloud Photos [Disable], when you disable ensure to select "Remoe from this Device", tap remove.

All Photos will be intact in the iCloud.

Without iCloud Photos enabled you will have Camera Roll

With iCloud Photos...

iOS 12.5.3 and earlier, it is called All Photos

iOS 13 and later it is called Recents

I am on iOS14.4.2. Switching off iCloud will not work as the photos will then not fit on my phone anymore (if I would like to keep them all on my phone). When I remove all photos I have now from my phone, then I will not be able to see my photos on my iPhone anymore right (thus also not a solution)?

So when I leave iCloud on (my preference) then I am left with the album called "Recents" but that shows everything on my phone again and not the photos/videos made with my iPhone camera.

Unfortunately both suggestions do not solve my issue.

Let me rephrase the request: I want to use iCloud AND I want to be able to see only the content created with my iPhone camera.

I cannot imagine that this is not possible on an iOS device and that it is possible on an Android device....:-(
