I bought 2 new remotes, 1 for ATV4k and 1 for ATV4. Was my understanding from the Apple launch that you could scroll with the wheel, similar to the old iPods with wheel scrolling. But so far, what it is doing is moving forward until my finger hits halfway, then starts moving backwards, like a sideways yoyo.
Am I wrong in that assumption? The instruction booklet doesn't mention it :(
I found an answer. You have to pause a video, and then touch the scroll wheel for a second or so, the icon changes, and then you can use a circular motion to move forwards and back through the video. Which is great. From what I’ve tried, this iPod scroll wheel behaviour only works in that mode, so you can’t use it to scroll through lists of options in the settings app for example. Does anyone know different?

just rewatched the event, and the presenter does swipe the touchpad to move across menus, but when watching For All Mankind definitely looks like rotating her finger to cue/review the video. Pointless changing the remotes if just gonna act like the old one
I expected the same, to use like an iPod scroll wheel, but get the same as you - it just acts like part of a larger tracking surface.
Does anyone have it scrolling properly, is there a setting to change this as I can’t find out?
