I can't airplay to HomePod mini from M1 Mac mini

It seems for sure for me it is solved with 12.2 the first b eta version. They redesigned the Apple Music app and some other stuff which seems was needed. Everytime after my Mac M1 mini comes out of sleep I can still Airplay to my HomePods (stereo). Finally good stuff, gave up hope tbh.

Reboot your router, your computer, and your HomePod, then see if things are any better.

Do a "restart" solve the pb (iMac m1). I think it works for all m1 mac.

Force quit the music app, restart the Mac - Use the AirPlay icon

fixed here too with Monterey 12.3 - finally.

I have an M1 MacBook Air. I do find that sometimes when I wake up the device the whole sound system seems to be inexplicably mute and I have to reboot to fix it. 😕 Perhaps you're seeing something similar.

Me too. M1 Mac mini running Big Sur 11.4. I can't AirPlay from the Mac to any HomePod or Apple TV in the house. HomePod mini lights up when I start playing audio from the Mac, and goes dark when I stop, but no sound.

Reboot - everything works OK, I can AirPlay from the Mac to any device no problem. But the next time I wake the Mac from sleep, AirPlay won't play, symptoms as above, and I have to reboot to fix it.

The only AirPlay process I see running in Activity Monitor is AirPlayUIAgent. Force-quitting this process and allowing it to start again does not fix the problem.

Come on Apple, get this one fixed.

I can now airplay from my M1 iMac. One of the past System Software updates apparently cured it for me. I am not sure which one, but I believe it was something like 11.5.2. Anyway, mine is working. I realize that does not help those of you for which it is still broken. (which seems to be largely M1 Mac minis) But I do have advice. Apple does not read this support board (it even says so). The thing to do is to report a bug in the OS. Those they DO read.

Give Apple all the details: Hardware (serial no. is good), OS, and any other pertinent info. They DO pay attention to these. Hope y'all get the issue resolved.

Yes the problem that was on previous system pre Monterey has bene sorted M1 mac mini plus homepod min both are happy now when the ethernet is plugged in and wifi is operating at the same time. I suggest a fresh installation on Monterray.

I'm on the b eta program, and it looks like it is solved in 12.1 v2 and v3.

Have same problem with my iMac 24 (OS Monterey 12.0.1). Only rebooting can fix this bug... waiting for the software update!

I also have this problem. However, by putting the iMac to Sleep for a second (and then waking it back up) fixes the problem for a while.

I have an iMac M1 11.4 After rebooting the iMac, everything is fine. but a fews hours later, I can airplay nothing from iMac to HomePod mini.

No problem with my iPhone 7p and my Mac mini 2012. They works just fine with this HomePod mini when iMac cannot airplay.

so this is just the bug with M1 chip Mac. I think can do nothing, just wait apple to fix it.

Force quit the airplayxpchelper in activity monitor does not work with my iMac m1.

I also have this problem with my regular Mac mini (2018) and the HomePod seems to be thinking, it’s playing something. It just doesn’t want to play my Mac audio.

The most easy solution is just to restart/reinstall your HomePod.
