RAM Upgrade for iMac 27" late 2015

Hardware : iMac Retina 5K 27" late 2015 // 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 // 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 // AMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB

OS : Big Sur 11.2.3

Issue : Ever since I upgraded to Big Sur my mac has become quite slow in responding to basic tasks, including initial login. Earlier the home screen would appear in a flash, but now it takes nearly a minute and i quite often see the dreaded spinning colour wheel. My basic diagnosis is that my mac is struggling for RAM perhaps as the new OS is more demanding than what it came with back in 2015.

Seeking some guidance if a RAM upgrade by +16 GB (2x 8 GB) would solve this. I have managed to find the compatible RAM online

You might actually be better off with other upgrades, such as an external SSD boot drive. But, to verify, I believe we need to proceed with an EtreCheck report. EtreCheck is a useful App to diagnose and identify issues, both hardware and software. It is trusted by many users. Please follow the steps outlined below:

Navigate to: https://etrecheck.com and get the free version of EtreCheckPro.
Download it. It is a free and trusted app. It is often recommended here on Apple Support Communities.
Open EtreCheck, and before running the report, be sure to check “Allow full Drive Access” at the bottom of the EtreCheckPro window.
Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211. We will then examine the report for issues in your Mac.

I would use Crucial US | DRAM, Solid State Drive (SSD) & Memory Upgrades

add your mac model and their list modules they tested with the mac to know it works

macs are pretty picky when it comes to memory modules

though if you don't have an SSD disk or hybrid then I would suspect your slow harddisk be the cause of your slow computer
