Hawaiian flag and keyboard fail on iPad etc

Firstly I acknowledge the point raised 4 months ago by IsaiahD201 about needing a Hawaii flag emoji and also the reply from Johnathan Burger suggesting contacting the Unicode Consortium — which looks like a bureaucratic black hole. See here: https://unicode.org/emoji/proposals.html

My specific problem lately is that the installed Hawaiian language keyboard does not work. I think there may be an `okina but I am confident that it is not correct, and also I can see no way for kekaho. The following is copy paste to show how both of these features should look.

Your picture certainly seems like the wrong keyboard for Hawaiian. It should have those two characters right on the bottom row. Very odd that it should be a different layout than for other iPads. Let Apple know about the error via

There's an alternative keyboard available via the Keyman app which I think does have a real okina right on the bottom row. You might want to have a look at that.

Wow that was fast JB. Thank you for your advice.

I posted about the issue on duolingo and just got a reply telling me to press and hold the a and the o key and the kekaho options pop up! I’m embarrassed. Now that works fine on this iPad but the options are much simpler on the iPhone….. but the basic kekaho is in fact there too.

Should I delete my original posting?

Thanks again.
