Broken iPhone 12 - How do I restore?

Hey everyone,

So 2 days back I somehow destroyed my phone - It fell off my motorcycle at a pretty high speed and it was hit by a few cars that were coming behind. It is completely unusable.

I have an older iPhone 8 that was prepared for selling (luckily I still got it), and I wanted to restore a (possible) backup of the iPhone 12 on this old one. However, the cloud backup on that one was Off... I suppose there is no miracle way of actually finding a backup of that old phone, right? I have no idea how did I turn that cloud bkp off...

I have also lost the history of a few important apps... didn't expect this to be so frustrating.

Anyway, I will probably have to deal with it.. since I don't have high hopes about the backup.

So technically, what do I have to do now?

Remove that iPhone from my account and my devices and call it a day?

I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

You can use your iPhone 8 that is logged into the same Apple ID as your iPhone 12 was before it got destroyed. On your iPhone 8, open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➔ iCloud ➔ Manage Storage ➔ Backups : Here you should see a list of backups of your devices that were using the same Apple ID to create backups. Good Luck.

Unfortunately, the day was called the minute your iPhone was destroyed without a backup. You are correct when you indicated that there is nothing that you can do to create a miracle backup.

Did your iPhone ever have a backup on iCloud before you turned iCloud backup OFF? If you did then that backup may still be on iCloud and you can restore from it. If there were no backups at all then there is nothing to restore from.

Thanks for the reply, Axel. The point is I can't really remember when I turned that backup off, so it is possible that an older backup exists.

My problem is that I am not very savvy and I don't know where I can see the list of backups in my iCloud account if there is something like that.

I have multiple devices, I can see them all in my account... but, is there a backups section where I can see the list of backups for all the devices?

Thank you.
