Podcast App issues

Since the ios 14.5 update a couple weeks ago I'm having a couple issues with the Podcast App.

The first is that there is about 600mb of Documents and Data that refuse to disappear from storage, even after I've listened to all available podcast downloads. It's eating memory space.

The second is that the App keeps "forgetting" the episodes I've already listened to. So they keep showing up in the available list of episodes inside each program I'm subscribed to. I only want to see New episodes in the listings.

So here's how I fixed this, and this works, but it's a pain. Just to keep things interesting, my computer crashed two nights ago as I was typing this up the first time. Completely unrelated to the original problem, just Murphy showing up when not needed.

I unfollowed all 14 of my podcasts. Then completely deleted the Apple Podcast app off the phone. Rebooted the phone. Then reloaded the app from the app store. Then started re-following my podcasts. So far, so good. Just more work than necessary.

If anybody from Apple is following this (doubtful), you got a couple of real problems with the Podcast App. Podcasts ain't that hard. And I realize it's not all that sexy, but could you maybe, possible, fix this stuff?

I went to iPhone settings>General>iPhone Storage>Podcasts and Unfolowed, then Re-followed the largest Shows. You should see a list similar to the left frame below.

For the lesser Show offenders, open the Show page, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and choose Remove Downloads (right frame).

If you find this answer is helpful, be sure to mark it as such. That way it draws others with the same problem to the answer in a search and those of us helping out don’t have to repeat ourselves as much.

So this part I'm already doing:

For the lesser Show offenders, open the Show page, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and choose Remove Downloads (right frame).

And it does delete the episodes I've listened to and removes them from memory.

This part, however, is not an option on my iPhone:

I went to iPhone settings>General>iPhone Storage>Podcasts and

Unfolowed, then Re-followed the largest Shows. You should see a list

similar to the left frame below.

I don't have an option to "Unfollow" and/or "Refollow" in that area of the software.
