If you open the Battery item in the Settings menu, scroll down, you will see charts of Battery Level and Activity. Select the "Last 24 Hours" option. Select the time bar on the activity chart; the corresponding section on the Battery Level chart will be highlighted. Below the charts, the Battery Usage will show the apps that were open, and their activity level during that time period.
A further note: before I offloaded old & unused apps and trimmed the automatic loading of podcasts, my battery level would plunge unexpectedly--like from 100% to 8% in 2 minutes. I often found that turning the iPhone off and on would correct this. So sometimes it looked as if the battery wasn't actually so discharged, but it thought it was.
Battery draining issue occurred when i updated to 14.5.1, i tried 14.6 and it got worsened. i am not using podcast app, and music collection is less than 200 songs. I have iphone 7 battery health is 96%
cpu-x app shows 10 to 20 % of cpu usage when idle. That was less than %10 , around %4 to %8 when it was 14.4
the problem does not occur all the time but something hits when browsing safari, or doing some other simple things. phone begins to get very hot and battery drains very quickly, like 3% or more in a minute. closing all the apps does not solve the problem immediately, sometime it stucks to drain battery couple of minutes more after i close every app. a few times i needed to turn the phone off.
my wifes phone is also iphone 7 , i clean installed 14.6 with itunes on it, different apps were installed and that occurs on her phone either.
it looks like some process goes into a loop or something and consumes lots of cpu power and battery.
and there is not any process manager for ios and we cant see which app or process causes this problem.
i wish apple signs 14.4 or previous versions i would definitely like to go back.
hope apple will fix this fiasco
My IPhone X is battery is draining like hole in a bucket of water after iOS 14.6 update. Done everything to save it but improvement. Previously can last a day full with mid to heavy usage. Now just last few hours.
@Apple please release the update soon to fix it. It’s really annoying just in case you guys understand it.
I thought it was just me at first but in the last three days it plummets from full charge to low-power mode when, usually, I get two days out of a charge. In all cases, the App Store is the number one consumer of battery, even after I have explicitly swiped the app so that it is not running.
I have turned off background downloads to see if that helps.
I've actually had to switch back to Pocket Casts. The battery drain is so ridiculous. Even when my phone is officially plugged into a fast charger via the lightning port, I still actually lose battery life while listening to episodes.
Think about that. The phone is plugged in to a fast charger, AND I LOSE BATTERY LIFE!

For me it’s only standby that’s the issue. Normal usage seems to consume about as much charge as usual, maybe just a bit more. Because when I actually use the phone with Safari, Apple Music, Tweetbot, YouTube, etc., it drains only marginally faster than in standby, the battery usage graph ends up being very even. I just completely turned off Background app refresh half an hour ago to see if it’ll do anything. I doubt it will, but still worth a try. But it seems like all we have left is to wait for Apple to fix this with 14.6.1, 14.7 or whatever the next version will be.
i checked the analytics. PerfPowerServices also seems to exceed 50% cpu
processes which require internet connection via wi-fi or 4g and phone calls seems to drain enormous amount of power.
when i load a few web pages consecutively in 10 15 seconds battery level decreases %1. when i switch to airplane mode and use any app it looks fine. maybe modem firmware is the problem.
I have the same problem, first with the extreme battery drain and also with the podcast app it takes sometimes 70% of my usage and I only use it 1 hour a day. Furthermore since the upgrade to 14.6 my battery went from 83 % to 81% then 78% on capacity. IPhone is very hot when charging or downloading a single podcast ! I used to charge me phone every 36 hours and now it is at least twice a day. Apple should take responsibility… this is not acceptable!
I'm having the exact same issue with the podcasts app. Here's what I did:
1. Delete the podcast app.
2. Redownload.
3. Before opening the app go to settings and turn off auto downloads.
4. Go into the podcasts app now and go to the "shows" list in your library and mark all episodes of each show as played by long pressing the coverart and selecting the mark all as played option.
Keep in mind, this only helped slightly. Phone still runs pretty hot while playing episodes but it has been slightly better.
My display is not responding my phone just goes off by itself when I'm on the phone. I do not understand why? since I have the update 14.6 drauf it is a disaster. my Ipohne model is the 7 so far I never had problems what is this? I would like to buy the 12 but not at this price honestly it is too expensive costs almost as much as a winter car. My phone has never fallen off. I pay so much attention I have so few apps on it and now I just have this problem . I have a mac 2 iPads the Ipohne everything from you but as is now one must almost consider to switch.
weird thing is, because the digits for the battery is dropping, i have the phone attached to the power bank all day long. when i remove the power bank, after a few minutes, it will drop to around 50%. then i will plug the power bank back in, and sometimes pretty quickly, it will jump up a lot. i did this a couple of times. if you charge your phone so many times in a day, you would think your power bank will be out of battery very quickly. but strangely enough, it only took half of the power bank's battery to last my phone for the day. it seems like only the digits are dropping on the phone's battery percentage, but not the actual power is draining? because if it actually drains, my power bank will be emptied really fast.
No they do not help. Probably all ppl here already know about them. Apple should acknowledge and fix this for us. Ppl sending abnormal battery draining graphs and still apple is in denial. Guess we all hallucinating then !
The update re-evaluates the battery health of certain handsets in order to provide a more accurate indication of battery health. Battery drain is not the same as a drop in battery health.
This thread is about battery drain.
Hello,
it looks like you didn’t get many response for your problem?
I have updated my iPhone to iOS 14.6 and suffer extreme battery drains and also lost in battery health.
So I was wondering what to do with my iPad.
i just put the question to the community and I am hoping for response so far I didn’t update my iPad , waiting for advise!
Same problems here, I updated to 14.6 because it was supposed to solved the problems I was having with the app podcast. Very bad move. Like you I wonder if Apple will do something for this but loosing patience. I have an appointment at Apple store Monday will see what they say !
