Hi all.

I thought I would let you all know my problem and a fix. I use a iPhone X and use iOS 14.6 and never had any problems with battery until I started a sub to Apple Music. Before I sub to Apple Music I played my own music that I had stored on my iPhone and never had a problem so I subscribed to Apple Music and now my battery drain is so bad and the iPhone even gets hot. I just could not play any music as it was burning up my iPhone and the only way to stop it was to let the iPhone go into standby.

I tried resetting restarting closing the app and it did not help. Every time I loaded the music app and even close the app would still drain the battery fast. So I decided to turn off use mobile data in the music app and it stoped the battery drain and the iPhone from getting hot. I did another test by turning g use mobile data back on and turning off background app refresh for the music app and that also fixed the problem.

so I concluded that the apple music app has a background app refresh problem on the iPhone only. This looks like a bug in background app refresh software or the Apple Music app itself.

if you have battery drain try turning every single app refresh off in the refresh and then try it out and start adding one at a time testing in between each app enable and see what happens.

I reported this to apple and they logged. It.

so in my cause the Apple Music app refresh is broken.

hope this helps anyone.

Mine also

Used to start my day with 100 and by the day ends would have been at 40-45.

Now after 14.6 battery health dropped two percent from 100-98 in just a week.

battery life also terrible

for a 21 minute FaceTime audio call 8% battery is used up.

for a normal browsing of 1 hour 15% is used.

this is not the case before

just a mere 4-5% for one hour of audio call

and not more than 8% for one hour of browsing

expecting apple to solve soon

any tech guy out there to help me with any setting change??

please help me out

Posting here will not solve the problem! I spoke with two apple support reps yesterday and they said they are unaware of any issues! So if they don't think there is an issue, what is there for them to solve?

Apparently Apple doesn't look at info from 3rd parties (like Forbes or Reddit) or even this website! A simple (Google) search for "iOs 14.6 battery drain" would show them how widespread the issue is.

So it seems they only respond to incoming telephone complaints.

So please call!!!

So disappointing, what a terrible way to treat customers.

i am also posted many complaints and review for that issue but nothing fix there is no 14.6.1 for fixing this issue . and they reply me and says if any bugs and any complaints in ios updates so, we filed complaints , bugs problems in developers forums if we filed these reports so may be they can adressed it but not here. its only for discussions not for ios bug fix.

Try this;

Settings -> Apple ID -> Find my -> Find my iPhone -> And turn off ‘find my network’

For AirTags to work Apple devices need to constantly ping Bluetooth and U1 signals from devices which will drain a lot of battery over a day regardless of them both being low powered

You will be loosing the ability to find your iPhone or iPad if the battery is completely dead but they only just added that anyway so life will be as it was before the iOS 14.6 update

hi Shaun,

I wish I could go back to life before 14.6. I have to charge my phone up to 3 times a day with a minimal use. I turned off almost everything. Also I put my wifi, Bluetooth off during the night and I still go from 87% to 46 % during my sleep. Apple isn’t doing anything, I wonder what we have to do to get a fix for this problem.

I have been an Apple customer since they made their first computer, so I am very disappointed and angry with them now!

Hello,

I have the same problem, the battery is draining at a crazy speed and especially my iPhone is overheating.

I play Epic Seven a lot and after 5 minutes the iPhone is already very hot, after 20 to 30 minutes it gets hot.

I hope Apple will quickly implement a solution because I am afraid of damaging my iPhone.

Have a nice day.

i experienced battery drain in vain on both my iphone 7's. then i restored from ipsw with itunes and it resolved.

however. i did not installed all apps i had in my phone before and did not downloaded any of 200 songs in my music app. or any of my pdf's in books app. its literally an "empty" phone and i never use podcast app.

Battery is pretty good right now. browsing with safari did consumed 2% in a minute before but now %1 in maybe five minutes. never experienced overheating or battery loss when i was a sleep.

something definitely cause this problem but i dont know what it is yet.

Communication at Apple is even worse than I thought. They may write everything down, and make careful notes and tickets, but it appears that no one reads the notes until the next time you call; and certainly no one evaluates or responds to the issues raised. At least not to those raising them.

I am experiencing severe battery charge level problems, as in my previous posts, which started with the .4 update. To try to get some help, I started with a chat where I was told no one at Apple had been notified of this problem, even when I told them that there were numerous reports on the Forum.

I followed up with the Genius Bar. They noticed the battery drain, especially when it went down 10% in 20 min. They said tests indicated the battery was fine.

I followed their suggestion and backed up and restored from my computer.

No change.

I called Apple. After long discussions and much reading of notes from previous visits they said the battery was bad and I should return to the Genius Bar for a new battery at $99 replacement cost.

at the Genius Bar last Wednesday they said I could not replace the battery on my iPad Mini 5 since it tested good, so my choice was to buy a new iPad or try a complete update in the store and then reload my apps and data at home.

With limited choices, we completely erased the iPad and loaded a new .4 OS.

I have now restored many of my apps and some data, but the battery drain is as bad as ever.

I am reaching my frustration limit. Has anyone heard from Apple about this issue and any resolution or even acknowledgement?

I just got the 12 Max Pro maybe two months ago, I loved it switched from Samsung because of the battery. I could use this phone for almost 2.5 days without charging. Now It doesn't even make it a full day. I'm really disappointed. I got this because I haven't bought a actual new phone since Galaxy 5. I do a lot of craft shows and I need my phone for payments and I hated having to charge it every hour. I don't listen to Podcast, play games, and I try to turn the Air play off. I don't know what else to do. I'm really really disappointed right now, and I got rid of my fitbit watch and got the Apple 6 to go with my new phone.. :( Come on Apple...Please FIX!!! I was so happy!!!
