Battery drain on iOS 14.6
my battery life on iOS 14.6 is terrible… is it just me or anyone is experiencing this thing too??
my battery life on iOS 14.6 is terrible… is it just me or anyone is experiencing this thing too??
So after putting up with this issue of the App Store using around 50% of my battery each day for nearly two weeks (and with activity levels at 100% every hour, with almost all of it in the background) I contacted apple support online chat. They suggested a few things that I had already tried and so we went to the full restore whilst the phone is plugged into a computer. So I reset my phone 11 via my Mac (following their instructions) and then I restored via iCloud backup .
I have now had ten hours of normal battery behaviour; usually by this point in the day my iPhone would be nearly dead. It is still on 56% 👍🏻👏🏻
So if anyone on here is struggling with battery life since iOS 14.6 was released and has tried a number of things but not yet tried the full restore plugged into a computer (which is better than an untethered restore according to the apple support chat representative) then I would urge you try it. Yes, it is a pain resetting the phone and waiting for it to restore from backup (and I now need to reconfigure my banking apps and wallet) - but I'm very happy that the problem seems to be resolved.
Cheers
I have same issue, however, my drain seems to be the App Store running in the background, not the Podcast app. Like will just run the battery into the ground and app not even opened. signed in and out of app store. no joy
Another user affected here - iPhone XR, the phone sometimes gets 30% charged overnight and stops. I can’t use earbuds on long video calls because I need to keep the phone plugged into power. Also noticing the phone heats up when using some apps, a problem I haven’t experienced since I retired my 5s.
But ios 14.7 is long way to go about atleast it takes 1 month ios 14.7 have several betas so, if they fix battery drain amd heating issue in ios 14.7 not before like in ios 14.6.1 . So i must say battery will damaged and battery health also drops. Apple should have to fix in ios 14.6.1
This night starting from 1am my iPhone 12 drained from 65 to 0 before morning starts so I lost my alarm clock in the morning and lost my doctor appointment. And this is iPhone 12. 2 month new with 100 battery life.
weird thing is, because the digits for the battery is dropping, i have the phone attached to the power bank all day long. when i remove the power bank, after a few minutes, it will drop to around 50%. then i will plug the power bank back in, and sometimes pretty quickly, it will jump up a lot. i did this a couple of times. if you charge your phone so many times in a day, you would think your power bank will be out of battery very quickly. but strangely enough, it only took half of the power bank's battery to last my phone for the day. it seems like only the digits are dropping on the phone's battery percentage, but not the actual power is draining? because if it actually drains, my power bank will be emptied really fast.
Started out the day at 100% battey life. Downloaded a podcast and listened to it for 22 minutes and 57 seconds. Battery went from 100% to 78%.
This needs to get fixed stat is they're going to try to make this a subscription service.
The day I did the update to 14.6, I went to bed with 87% battery, I listened for 1 hour (sleep mode) of à download podcast my battery was at 3% when I woke up!
Like you said, this update was supposed to add functions to the app podcasts and it’s a disaster!
Apple should offer a solution ASAP but they don’t acknowledge the problem.
I have an appointment at the Genius Bar Monday, will see what they say…
I have the same issue. I went to the Apple store this weekend, reset my phone and restored from my iCloud backup. Unfortunately, I'm still having the issue. Please let me know if anyone else comes across any other resolutions.
Before iOS 14.6, battery health was 100%. 12 Pro Max and now it’s 96%. Phone is only 7 months old. By end of the day 30% battery left and that’s after having plugged it in the car for small trips (1/2h max) for CarPlay.
This is a shockingly bad state of affairs. Surely there must be a fix on the horizon.
Can’t ignore posters and magazines picking up on this surely?
I, too, have been having significant battery issue since the update to 14.6.
I always have to keep a charger around (or more precisely keep my self around a charging power outlet) since a 40 mins video call with my friends took a whopping 40% of battery!
The battery health also dropped a few percentages right after the update, down to 79% which prompted a battery replacement.
Of course, the few percentage drop in battery health could have never caused such a dramatic battery drain, so I was relieved to find out that many other people are also having the same issue and that this was rather sth wrong with the OS.
Really looking forward to a prompt fix or at least workaround for this issue.

hi Shaun,
I wish I could go back to life before 14.6. I have to charge my phone up to 3 times a day with a minimal use. I turned off almost everything. Also I put my wifi, Bluetooth off during the night and I still go from 87% to 46 % during my sleep. Apple isn’t doing anything, I wonder what we have to do to get a fix for this problem.
I have been an Apple customer since they made their first computer, so I am very disappointed and angry with them now!
Hi,
this is concerning, Apple ignore your reports on the bêta version of 14.6 ?
yesterday I read that the 14.7 coming early July maybe… will solve the problem that Apple doesn’t acknowledge 14.6 has !
I am waiting for the fix, in the meantime my battery health lost 6%.
I have noticed that lately all of a sudden my iPhone 11's battery got discharged much faster in the same usage scenarios. Today I had ~20 min of Navigations via Google map + 1 hour of reading news in Chrome via cellular data. Probably a bit of Viber chat. And it took 33% of battery! Madness... Literally, percentage numbers were decreasing right before my eyes. iOS 14.6. At the same time, battery info shows optimistic 98% of battery health :-D

Apple, you fail users again and again. I have been using Iphone since 2007 September, it is hilarious of how you can fool consumers again and again. How hard it is to give decent battery life.
This is a user-to-user forum. Apple is not reading here for suggestions of feedback. If you would like Apple to know your thoughts, you can use the feedback page:
Alll phones, all ios updates, same issue. Pathetic !
No, it's not all phones. I have never had a problem with any of my iPhones. Nor have most people I know.
Hi all, so just wanted to update that with ios 14.7, there's been noticeable improvement in performance (less laggy/micro-stuttering when transitioning from and to different apps) as well as shorter time it takes to fully charge my phone. However the battery drain rate remains the same as 14.6 :(
