Airpods Max lossless Audio Quality
I am trying to figure out how to reach lossless audio quality without the need of having an extra pair of headphones and sacrificing the convenience & comfort of Airpods Max.
Apple says in their lossless audio FAQs that you can listen to lossless audio using Apple’s Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, but unfortunately, you cannot listen to lossless audio using the AirPods Max Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Cable.
Now, as much as this may sound a bit much, does that mean if I used the combination of Airpods Max + Lightining to 3.5mm Audio Cable + Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, I could reach lossless audio quality, or there would be a lot a loss in these different conversions.
Another question is, what if I replaced the Apple adapter in this setup with a proper DAC "like THX Onyx", will this result in difference in quality, or it won't matter much. I know that DACs will produce louder sounds for sure, but I am more interested in frequency range and distortion levels.
