i received an email for a job interview for apple and when i tried to RSVP i ran into a problem. after i logged in to make the reservation, i get the message "make sure the email address on this invitation is associated with your Apple ID". How can i associate my personal email with my apple ID.

Apple has a formal job application process and surely if you used that, you can contact them (Careers at Apple).
And if you did not formally apply for a position with Apple through their web site, then the email was a scam trying to steal your AppleID login information. With rare exceptions for very high level positions, Apple does not randomly contact people about jobs (no large company does). And an AppleID is not required to apply for advertised positions with Apple.

You can add the email to Reachable At pr you can change your Apple ID to that email address.
