FaceTime not working on iPhone 12 Pro after update to iOS 14.6?

After updating to iOS 14.6 on my iPhone 12 Pro, FaceTime no longer works when both calling others and receiving calls.

When calling out, FaceTime will get stuck on the “Connecting” step of the FaceTime call until hung up manually.

When receiving calls, it will also get stuck on the “Connecting” step forever.

Interestingly, when others receive FaceTime calls from my device, they will see a “Decline current call and accept this one” prompt, even when they are not on a call themselves.

This has been testing on both WiFi and Cellular, so it is unlikely to be an issue with my existing networks.

Has anyone else had this issue?

How do I go about fixing this?

Here's what worked for me. Similar problem- both FaceTime and iMessage failed.

This is basically just a "reboot" solution, but this order made the difference for me.

I have both an iPhone XR and iPad Pro.

  1. Deleted FaceTime App from iPad
  2. Powered off iPad
  3. Turned off iMessage on iPhone settings
  4. Turned off FaceTime on iPhone settings
  5. Powered off iPhone
  6. Restarted iPhone
  7. Turned on iMessage on iPhone settings and signed in with AppleID
  8. Turned on FaceTime on IPhone settings and signed in with AppleID
  9. Powered on iPad
  10. Signed to to iMessage--> worked this time!
  11. Reinstalled FaceTime, signed in-->worked this time!

Good luck to all.............JB

Hey Chris, thanks for the link

I have followed the steps outline and the confirmed settings needed were enabled in the link above and it did not resolve my situation.

Specifically, I have confirmed that I am on WiFi. I am not using any router firewall or security software that blocks FaceTime (confirmed by switching to Cellular and seeing the issue persists), I have confirmed Cellular is enabled for FaceTime in settings, that itself FaceTime is on in settings, that the date and time are set automatically, and I have restarted my device to no avail.

Updating to the latest software as the article suggests actually caused my problem. So confirmed to be running the latest in iOS.

What else might fix this?
