Erase & Reset > 24 hours

Tried to wipe my IPhone 12 Pro Max clean and it has been resetting for over 24 hours. I did have near 60k photos. Please let me know if you have any advice, or if I should just remain patient. Thank you.

Settings/General/Reset - Erase all Settings and Content should complete in a minute or less. Sometimes, however, it doesn’t restart. So if it goes on for more than 5-10 minutes force-restart it:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP
  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN
  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds)

The operative word here is QUICKLY

If it comes up with the Hello screen the reset was successful.

Remaining Patient:

It is questionable. What is the storage capacity of the iPhone? And how much was used? Nearly 60K photos is quite a bit. And if you did clear unneeded data (Media, temporary Internet files, and "Other"), then the entire iPhone may have been full. So, place it atop a laptop cooler. A photos is up to 4MB for height-end resolution(nothing fo an iPhone), meaning 1000 of this would be 240GB. So, I assume it has a lot of storage.

In Three Hours:

So, either give it a few more hours, and then - if unsuccessful - use this link to set it and continue with the reset (where it installs updates and the like): How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - .
