Just got my new phone. Apple said on this site that my old one would stop working once I turned on new one. It hasn't. Basically I have a new wifi device and an old phone. How do I set this up? Frustrated!

Apple are not on this site to tell you anything.
If you ported the number across or moved the physical SIM across then the cellular service on the old phone should be dead. Everything else will work.
Get new SIM for the old one and set up messaging etc, or clear the old phone down for sale
before you sell your phone...

Did you activate your new phone with your phone carrier?
