iMac mid 2007 reinstall Tiger

I have tried to upgrade my parents mid 2007 iMac from 10.6.8 to El Capitan (using a bootable USB I made)as was struggling to get websites to work. However, the install has failed right at the end and says it cannot be installed. I have upgraded RAM to 4GB.

I cant find the original install discs (I have been told they are Tiger, but not sure which version).

How do I mend the computer and get a workable OSX back on. is there a way to download Tiger still?Surely there must be a way to repair computer!

Hoping someone has an answer.

Thanks, but I have just solved the puzzle. By changing the date to 29 September 2015, El Capitan suddenly installed!

That is a huge relief and saved me trying to find a copy of Tiger!

Change date through terminal to 29 September 2015, this somehow allows El Capitan to install.

To move up from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 you need to purchase the Lion 10.7 upgrade.

Then after you have upgraded to Lion 10.7 you can get the later upgrades up to El Capitan 10.11 for free.
