Not sure why, but all these song files I have are "protected MPEG4 audio" and will not import to my library. Is there a way to convert them? More importantly, BULK convert them? There are 318 of them. Thanks for any insight.

Protected purchases should import. It should play if the computer is authorized for the account. Protected content from the Apple Music service won't be added.

If the tracks were purchased from iTunes Store, you can Redownload music – Apple Support.
If the tracks are still protected, you may need to subscribe to Subscribe to iTunes Match – Apple Support

About 100 of them are, ironically, from the iTunes store. The rest I'm not certain.
Thank you so much. I don't know when it happened but I was signed out of iTunes match somehow. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
