How do I get rid of the editors picks in my Maps?

Also wanting to remove them. I set a "My Places" for ease of access for directions and now it is lost below "Editor's Picks" and undoing the value of setting a location for easy access for directions. Favourites can only take so many options before crowding the space. Editor's Picks is in the way. Editor's Picks is also like advertising on the iPhone and I have already paid top money for the system without expecting advertising in iOS. Also, I don't like Siri suggestions or Editor's picks, I also prefer to choose myself and to be crowded with this junk. I find Google Maps awful to use now for all such suggestions, and gutted that Apple Maps is going the same way. At least let us turn this off and tell us how. Thank you.

Please make this optional.

this is big brotherish. Apple needs to stand by its own values. True freedom occurs in a world without forced assimilation. I don’t care what the apples editor picks. I want to be the editor of my own experience. Without the outside influence of another corporate, social, or political Source. Based on his life experience Tim Cook should understand that better than most.

I have 3 iPhones and an iPad. I just bought a new iPhone SE2 to replace a Google Pixel. The purpose for both phones was to use their Maps programs.

One reason for getting rid of the Pixel phone was that Google Maps has so many advertising related "features" that it's become impossible to use.

I have LARGE fingers. The problem with my new iPhone SE2, when I do a Map search and hit Search Maps, the Editor's Picks is peeking over the top of the keypad.

Hitting any of the characters in the top row of the key pad launches Editor's Picks or one of the Find Nearby icons.

It takes several steps to get back to Search Maps, a total waste of time sitting at the side of the road trying to get directions.

I have NO NEED for any of those advertising features!!!

All I want to do is get directions to a place I already know about!

I want to be able to disable both Find Nearby and Editor's Picks.
