Carplay not giving navigation voice directions.

Okay here is my situation.

My update to 14.6 on XR has created a problem with voice navigation.

Apple Maps and Waze no longer give audio for directions.

Google maps will give directions as long as Apple Music or Podcast are not playing. So radio and SiriusXM can be used and voice directions come over the speakers.

this only happens in my 2019 Jaguar F-pace. When I use navigation in my wife’s car there are no problems. My wife’s iPhone 12 Pro has the same error in my car. However it was the 14.6 upgrade that killed CarPlay Navigation voice with both phones in this car.

Never mind, I finally got it to work! I went into the settings on Google maps, went to volume, and it said I could adjust it while it was speaking. Put in an address, turned up the volume, and everything works now! Apple Maps has sound again and I can hear my text alerts.

I read somewhere that there is a glitch with the IOS 14.6 that’s keeping the audio off on CarPlay.

Same here, my car goes in for service next week. Hoping that the dealer can update the onboard and get it working. iOS works fine with Audi head units just not the JLR units it appears.

You know what's crazy? Just tried an Android phone to see if the problem persists and no, in Android Auto, both Google Maps and Waze have voice guidance!

Gave it a try and still have the same issue.

the only mapping App that seems to have voice is google maps. That only works if I do not use any other CarPlay apps with sound. So I must listen to broadcast radio or to Sirius. If I switch to Apple Music or Podcast no voice directions.

my thought is somehow their is a breakdown now between the jag Android head unit and the 14.6 upgrade.

I’ll ask my dealer at the next service to see if there is a new software release available for the infotainment system.

Good news. This sounds like progress.

My RRS has been doing updates over the air. In the settings menu, you can check and download updates (if one is available.). There have been no new updates available recently.

I will install 14.7 on my iPhone 12 Pro

Max this morning and see if it fixes my issues… and will post my results later.

Its interesting though that people seem to have the issue with completely different car manufacturers. I have a Volkswagen for example. Somehow this makes me believe that Apple may have something to do with it…. but I may be wrong.

Because if they did not offer CarPlay they would lose sales. When I ordered the F-Pace it was actually a factor in other brands getting the boot at the time.

now that I have it and the CarPlay no longer works, but still works flawlessly on the wife’s Audi I truly regret not sticking with a Q5.

JLR should be a premium brand, I expect these shenanigans out of some entry level company. However we are way passed the point they should have this issue corrected.

I have the same problem. I own a Discovery 5 and I can’t believe in this day and age that if there’s a software update make it compatible at the same time for car manufacturers! And while I’m having a rant about CarPlay make it wireless though the car industry!!

I just updated to iOS 14.7 and it’s STILL an issue.

I have the exact same problem in my 2020 Range Rover! Frustrating. No navigation voice on wither maps or Waze.

Did anyone try yet if the problem still persists with iOS15? I am hesitant to upgrade, but maybe someone is brave enough :-)

Agreed. I have a new Range Rover and it is so frustrating not to have any audible navigation with Waze or imaps on CarPlay!! jar needs to do something about it !
