A movie only plays in picture-in-picture

For some reason one of my 4k movies, with extras, is suddenly only playing in Picture-in- Picture. In Full screen audio is present, but no video.

In this one, All Extras work 100% including the original theatre release. This issue did not exist 24-hours ago.

I've cycled power, adjusted resolution, chroma, restart, reset, hide & unhide, tvOS 14.6 (18L569)

I haven't found this issue with any other 4k films.

Any possible resolutions regarding this Lionsgate film?

A second issue though, after reset the Siri 1 remote doesn't work. Maybe because of 14.6?

Hey barberlives123,

Thanks for your response!

I was able to borrow an Apple TV w/A10X from an elder neighbor who isn't aware of updating. They have tvOS 14.4 on the Apple TV.

I previously believed a contributing cause could have been the recent tvOS update, however testing the movie on my neighbor's Apple TV had led to my official conclusion that the movie resolution must have been downgraded from it's original 4k HDR to 4k SDR.

As previously noted, this used to play without issues.

Again barberlives123, thanks for response!

Hi showprolights,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. From our understanding, when playing a specific movie on your Apple TV, you are not able to see the video unless you are using Picture-in-Picture, is that correct? You can try the steps in this article: If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app under the section titled " If the video quality is bad or it stops playing".

To confirm the issue is with the specific movie, you can test it on another device to see if this occurs.

Hope that helps!

Hi Sharon_419,

Thanks for your reply.

Your understanding about the movie only being viewable in Picture-in-Picture is correct.

Fortunately, I've recently been able to experiment and obtain New Information regarding the cause. After spending over 2 hours testing multiple video configurations between Apple TVs, AirPlay, and 4k UHD TVs, it appears that the movie which is labeled with 4k & Dolby Vision (name branded 4k HDR), is No Longer compatible with HDR10 or Dolby Vision.

It's pretty strange that it worked several days ago but now I cannot have HDR10 enabled on my Apple TVs if I wish to watch the movie. I believe what may have caused the development of this issue was upgrading to tvOS 14.6. Now there are specific video requirements which must be set if I want to watch it on any Apple TV (A10X Fusion), or stream it via AirPlay.

Required Video Format:

Format: 4K SDR

HDMI Output: YCbCR

Match Content: Off

When HDR10 is Enabled, it appears that this is currently the only movie in my library that will not play in full screen. I haven't been able to go through my entire library, but testing other movies from Lionsgate and other studios with HDR10 enabled has thus far been 100% successful.
