TikTok apps stuck on landscape mode

Mine will flip to portrait mode if I go to a live video on the feed but if I click on a broadcaster's profile while they're live it stays in landscape.

This happened a couple of weeks ago and it suddenly started working right again but this morning first thing it's back to landscape.

I hope somebody can figure this one out.

This what I do:

1. Search for a live video and open it
2. After opening it, go to their profile on upper left part
3. In their profile, block them
4. After blocking, simply press the back button

There you have it! Hope this helps. You can unblock them by going to your settings and then privacy, at the bottom you can see blocked accounts.

i have also been having this promblem. On my iPad mini. And when I got to make a video on tiktok then it goes portrait but when I go to edit the video and I try to edit a text it goes over the time bar and it’s like in the corner of the screen it’s really annoying

Hello I have an iPad 5th gen and I had the same problem but I managed to fix it by flipping to portrait mode while watching a live on TikTok and that seems to lock the app in portrait mode

OK it seem to work after about five tries I’m gonna go back into TikTok now and see if it stayed. Once I close TickTock and went back in and it’s back to landscaped only you shouldn’t have to do that every time you want to do you some thing in portrait mode either Apple need to send out a fix or TickTock does

I have the same problem, and for anyone wondering why this all of a sudden happened it’s from the new tiktok update and your ipad auto updated tiktok. The only solutions I could find is by going to someone’s profile and going into there live, then exiting and it will be in portrait mode. But even in portrait mode tiktok for iPad looks a lot different the comments are different and lots of other things

Having the same problem.

Tiktok app has always functioned in Portrait mode on my iPad, until yesterday. Now I can’t get it out of landscape mode. My iPad screen rotation is not on lock. Tried restarting iPad, also uninstalled app and reinstalled it. To no avail.

I don’t understand how this just suddenly started happening yesterday. Nothing has changed on my iPad.

iPad is running iOS 14.6.

Any suggestions?

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone! But this is super frustrating! APPLE, WHY IS TIKTOK STUCK IN LANDSCAPE?! I am on iPad pro11 and it seems like everyone who is having this problem is on an iPad. Mine started this morning, June 25 2021, super annoying! TikTok is not a landscape mode app and as a content creator who only uses an iPad I am very upset as I can no longer film a video properly inside the app! What the **** am I going to do now, I don't have a phone just the iPad? This blows. Get it fixed Apple!

I am seriously going to lose my mind if I can’t get this fixed, it’s only on my iPad with TikTok running in landscape mode and it just happened all of a sudden overnight, it’s driving me nuts I’ve tried everything I’ve uninstalled I reinstalled I’ve rebooted so many times that my finger is sore, all software it up to date, etc. etc.!! what the heck?????? HELLLLPPPPP

Yeah it is a tiktok problem apparently an update only for iPads bc they wanna make it so that IPad users are happy that there’s a style for iPads which is dumb bc it doesn’t even fit the screen and it’s annoying with the comments it seems to be a permanent update so rly unfortunate but again on my phone it seems to be fine too

Here is what I find that consistently works for me getting the TikTok back to portrait mode.

1. Start up TikTok and find live feed.

2. Turn iPad to portrait orientation.

3. Click X to close video while keeping iPad in portrait orientation.

The live video should resume in live mode but will have switched to portrait orientation.

you can then close that live video and the recorded videos continue to show in portrait mode.

This has worked for me for several days now.

It should be permanently in portrait mode now. “X” out of live, and it will stay in portrait mode. It worked for me the 3rd try. So keep trying if it doesn’t flip upright the first time.

I went to live feed. 4 times. When it changed back to portrait mode, the X to close it out was cut off on the right corner. And half of the chat screen is cut off on the left. I can’t get to the X to close out of Live. I have to completely close the app to get out of it. And then of course I’m still stuck in landscape mode

as anyone managed to sort this problem out yet with being stuck on landscape. Tried live videos and a tiktok live once got it back to portrait, then it went back to landscape. Even if I watch any live video it just stays on landscape and then have to refresh the page to get off it. I am using an ipad pro which is a few years old.
