Drag to resize image in mail

I can't figure out how to resize an image once I've dragged it into an email I'm writing.

In Thunderbird I just grabbed the corner and dragged to resize. I'm boggled that a Tbird feature isn't available in an Apple client! Please tell me I'm wrong - and then tell me how to do it!
