My daughters' Ipad 7th Gen was recently unmanaged by her school (graduating). Even though the MDM profile is no longer there, the message still shows it's currently managed by the school. How can this be erased and still restore the backup of her data that's been on the iPad while it was managed?

Unfortunately, management is stored in the backups. She'll need to wipe it and set it up as a new device. The school's IT department should have done a full wipe before releasing the device or provided instructions for doing so.
