iOS 14.6 podcast app draining battery

Everything was fine until I installed 14.6 last week. Now when using the podcast app my phone gets hot and my battery drains in a matter of hours. I used to get a couple of days out of it.

The Podcast app is also glitchy, not wanting to play a podcast and taking a long time to start playback.

I’ve restarted and uninstalled/reinstalled the podcast app a few times without improvement. Battery health is good but shows the podcast app is using all the power.

I’m having identical problems- iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve found that turning on low power mode seems to help to some degree, but this is an awful bug.

Thanks, I will try this and see. However the real question is why was this not an issue before the Podcast App refresh?

It needs to be fixed IMHO.

Same problem. I feel like my battery is going to explode and burn the fucking house down. iPhones are garbage.

Seems to work. Thanks. But turning off all automatic makes podcasts a bit clumsy. But well, could bridge the time until this big is fixed.

The same thing happens on my phone. Heats up a lot when downloading episodes. Eats up a ton of battery when playing with the screen off.
