Iphone 11 pro max icloud locked

So I purchased an iPhone 11 pro max from a police auction website propertyroom.com. I have the receipt from the purchase and with the new apple icloud unlock help I thought they would unlock it for me. Apple did not. So now my options are

1. Try and find the original owner who can be a criminal and ask them to remove the lock

2. Sell it for parts and get way less then what I paid at auction

3. Pay a third party company and have them bypass icloud lock which could be a scam

Now none of these options are good but Apple doesn't care if I bought it legally they only care they didn't get money from me directly... what should I do?

Activation Lock is a theft deterrent feature. If there was an easy way to disable it that would defeat its purpose. I have heard of cases similar to yours where a phone was obtained from a police auction and Apple removed Activation Lock. You can try this route→https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support

You can also use the Get Support link at the top of this page and try to discuss it with an Apple support person. This works best if you are polite and not aggressive or demanding.

Thank you. This one has been quite the challenge! I have actually only written two User Tips and you've read them both. There are loads of user tips which have been written over the years by many senior members here. They're often not easily found though.

This may help you find them: Click Browse at the top of the screen. Then Filter and choose User Tips.

You started your first response with "have you done any research..." (kinda rude btw) I did do my research and I had found a lot of people got around the activation locks with earlier who had earlier ios so I thought it was worth a try since I would be saving a lot of money and how I found out that Apple started a activation lock removal department so I thought if they can see that I bought the phone legally they would unlock it. I dont know how removing activation lock on a wiped phone with no sim card violates the original owners privacy but whatever. I sent the activation lock team everything I mentioned in the post and Apple said they will remove it if I can show them the original receipt. Now how am I supposed to do that? Why would they ask for that if they knew I couldn't get it? I just spent 300 on the phone so I thought challenge accepted. This forum was my second to last stop before recycling it. If your point was that Apple wouldn't violate privacy then what was with the you should have done research, take it to the Apple store with the receipt but they won't help you, you shouldn't have bought a used phone unless... how does any of that prove that Apple wouldn't violate privacy? Do you know how many times you said take it to the Apple store but they won't help you, at least 3. Why would u say that? How does that prove Apple cares about privacy? So since you r mr. apple privacy have you ever looked at your analytics data? Why wouldn't that be Password protected or face recognition locked did you even know about it? I would think a company that cared so much about the people and the privacy would tell us about it or at the very least allow us to lock it...

Yes your all caps and go to the Apple store with the receipt but they won't help you was very helpful.

Did you know that iPhone's have sensors on the back so you can make iPhone do almost anything by either tapping the back of the phone twice or 3 times depending on what you want it to do.

See that is helpful and useful

You going no, nope, not happening, go try but they ain't gonna help, I know how auctions work and I know you have an unlimited amount of time to do research before betting is over and "you missed my point completely"... let me ask you this if I missed your point is that the failure of the person trying to convey the message or the person trying to understand it... Thanks for those gems I've learned a lot from you Mr Apple privacy thank you so much
