How can I tell if my new Siri remote is charging?

My new Siri/Apple TV remote won’t pair with my 4K Apple TV. (Not the newest one).

I get a prompt to hold it near the Apple TV, but when I do, nothing happens.

I’m trying to charge it, but I see no indicator light. How can I be sure it has a charge?

I tried the Apple solution of unplugging and replugging the Apple TV, but it didn’t help.

How do I check battery level, firmware version and serial number on my new Siri remote?

1. Press the Back button (“<“) until you return to the Home screen on your Apple TV.

2. Open the Settings app (the app with gears)

3. Go to Remotes and Devices > Remote.

4. You will see the current firmware version, serial number and battery level of your new Siri remote.
