Family Sharing

Only set Family Sharing up recently and adult children are not able to pay for their own purchases. This is crazy, what’s the deal Apple?

Many people seem to have the same issue with no proper solution.

Family Sharing is designed so that the organizer pays for all purchases.

Have the adult members buy/redeem Apple Gift cards to the account. Charges will be deducted from the account balance before the organizer's credit card is charged.

Apple Card

Gift cards redeem.

Gift Card - can’t redeem.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner. Pick the closest topic you can find.

Thanks Eric for taking the time to comment. However, it makes no sense that an adult member has to buy a gift card instead of just using their credit card.

i thought family sharing was a good idea until I tried it. It’s actually pretty useless and Apple should be ashamed of it.
