iTunes iPod Sync Music greyed out

I did a restore because my ipod would not play music. It would just stay in pause. Now I want to put the music back on it but Sync Music is greyed out and Entire music library and Include Videos is checked. The Sync button is grey but clickable but no music is found. What is going on here?

Hi cupboy,

Have you checked the Sync Library settings on all of your devices?

Sync Library might be turned off or unable to connect to the internet on one of your devices. Check the following:

  • If your music library is stored on a computer, make sure that Sync Library is turned on. Then check that Sync Library is turned on for all of your other devices. Learn how to turn on Sync Library on all of your devices.
  • Make sure that all of your devices are connected to the internet.

Good afternoon cupboy,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are trying to add music back to your iPod nano after restoring it.

Is your music library on a Mac or a Windows PC?

If you have not already done so, be sure to make a backup of music library:

Back up and restore your iTunes library on your PC

Back up your Mac with Time Machine

Are you able to sync a few songs or one playlist to confirm that your iPod is now working instead of the entire music library?

Use iTunes to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer

If your songs are grayed out

If the issue persists after trying the steps above, please reply to this thread and we'll do our best to help you!

Take care.
