Apple Earpods w/ Lossless

This morning I've experienced hiccups in downloaded music on my iPhone 8 Plus. I repeat the music with hiccups are DOWNLOADED to the device and it's hiccuping. I have changed my Apple Music settings back to "High Quality" which is a joke to begin with because AAC 256kbs is not "High Quality".

Do wired Apple Earpods (newest version) work with lossless audio, considering they are wired?

It says:

You can listen to lossless on an iPhone or iPad updated to iOS or iPadOS 14.6 using:

  • A wired connection to headphones, receivers, or powered speakers
  • To listen to songs at sample rates higher than 48 kHz, you need an external digital-to-analog converter.

The thing about "lossless" is it can have different forms and which ones they provide and what they need to work can vary.

I read it. That still doesn't specifically layout whether or not their own product is supported. I would think they would at least mention it. If Airpods Max over a wired connection won't support lossless, what makes you think that is a safe assumption?

Not all wired headphones are capable of handling increased bit depth and sample rates. Despite what their support article says. Outside research into audio sample rates and bit depth is necessary. They simplified the article which is a disservice to audiophiles that actually would use the feature they created.
